It is with regret, that this year's conference has been canceled. Due to various factors, a decision to not have the conference this year has been made. I apologize for the late notice ... especially to our long distant travelers who may have already made travel arrangements. However, the event's primary sponsor, Nashville Baptist Association, informed me the first of February that they were simply not in a position to help financially this year. Likewise, I've found that many vendor's are having to choose wisely where they put their promotion dollars. Also, the event location ... Scarritt-Bennett Center, in light of the current economic season, is not offering employee's, like myself, conference space at no charge. And, although in the past they have been more than generous in allowing me to "settle-up" with them cost-wise after the event ... this year's payment is due prior to the date of the event. Some have suggested that the event be held at a more "economical" location, like at a church in the area. That's possible (and sensible), however, the campus at Scarritt- Bennett Center is now a unique part of the conference experience. For those who come a distance, having the option to stay on campus is appreciated. The buildings and grounds are gorgeously relaxing. And having it at my work place makes it easier for me to provide. Please understand, that even though the conference has been canceled, it is still a passion of mine and a high priority on my "to-do" list for next year! So until then ... stay in touch and I look forward to seeing you at other church library events this coming year!!
